Here’s a clear step-by-step guide for installing xenon (HID) bulbs safely and correctly:
⚠ Safety First:
-
HID systems run on high voltage—always disconnect your car’s battery before starting.
-
Avoid touching the glass part of the bulb; oil from your skin can shorten its lifespan.
1. Preparation
-
Park the car on a flat surface and turn off the engine.
-
Let headlights cool down for at least 10–15 minutes.
-
Disconnect the negative (-) terminal of the battery.
2. Access the Headlight Assembly
-
Open the bonnet.
-
Locate the rear cover or dust cap of the headlight housing.
-
Remove the cover (twist or unclip, depending on the model).
3. Remove the Old HID Bulb
-
Disconnect the HID power connector from the back of the bulb.
-
Release the bulb retaining clip or locking ring.
-
Carefully pull the bulb straight out—avoid touching the glass.
4. Install the New Xenon Bulb
-
Align the new bulb’s tabs with the socket.
-
Secure it with the retaining clip or locking ring.
-
Reconnect the HID power connector firmly.
5. Reassemble
-
Refit the dust cap or rear cover.
-
Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
6. Test the Lights
-
Switch on your headlights to check for proper operation.
-
Ensure both bulbs match in brightness and colour.
-
If flickering or no light, double-check connections.
