Xenon Bulb Installation Tips

Here’s a clear step-by-step guide for installing xenon (HID) bulbs safely and correctly:

⚠ Safety First:

  • HID systems run on high voltage—always disconnect your car’s battery before starting.

  • Avoid touching the glass part of the bulb; oil from your skin can shorten its lifespan.

1. Preparation

  1. Park the car on a flat surface and turn off the engine.

  2. Let headlights cool down for at least 10–15 minutes.

  3. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal of the battery.

2. Access the Headlight Assembly

  1. Open the bonnet.

  2. Locate the rear cover or dust cap of the headlight housing.

  3. Remove the cover (twist or unclip, depending on the model).

3. Remove the Old HID Bulb

  1. Disconnect the HID power connector from the back of the bulb.

  2. Release the bulb retaining clip or locking ring.

  3. Carefully pull the bulb straight out—avoid touching the glass.

4. Install the New Xenon Bulb

  1. Align the new bulb’s tabs with the socket.

  2. Secure it with the retaining clip or locking ring.

  3. Reconnect the HID power connector firmly.

5. Reassemble

  1. Refit the dust cap or rear cover.

  2. Reconnect the negative battery terminal.

6. Test the Lights

  1. Switch on your headlights to check for proper operation.

  2. Ensure both bulbs match in brightness and colour.

  3. If flickering or no light, double-check connections.
